Roger Odell McClure, 71, of Gastonia, NC, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Caromont Regional Medical Center.
A native of Gaston County, he was born on December 28, 1952, to the late Jesse and Ollie McClure.
Roger worked as a computer programmer in manufacturing for many years. He loved the mountains and helping others. He was a loving father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Debra Brommer Costner McClure; sons, Roger Scott McClure, Jesse Lee McClure; sister, Jennifer McClure Phelps.
Roger is survived by his sons, Jack Luther Costner Jr., Brian Gilbert (Kelly); daughters-in-law, Kristal Whitson McClure, Carrie McClure; sister, Elaine McClure Padgett; sister-in-law, Melinda Brommer; grandchildren, Daphne McClure (Fiancé, Ander), Jesse Jay Zachary McClure, Trent Gilbert, Bryson Gilbert, Garrett Gilbert; great-grandsons, Gus Gilbert, Mac Gilbert; nieces and nephews, Stephanie McClure Viars (Richard), Jessica Phelps, Jackie Brommer Batton (Frank), Ben Padgett (Danyell), Shane Parker; special niece, Tammy Brommer; special nephew, Robert Phelps; numerous other nieces and nephews.
A graveside service officiated by Jimmy Clark, will be held Saturday, January 27, 2024, 1:00 PM at Olney Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 251 Olney Church Road, Gastonia, NC, 28056. A visitation will follow the service.
The South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service is honored to serve the McClure family.
