Roger M. Merritt, age 91, passed away peacefully at his home on August 24, 2025. He was born October 12, 1933 in Lockport to the late Ernest and Henrietta (Barclay) Merritt.
Roger enjoyed camping, hunting, telling jokes and riding motorcycles. He was an avid woodworker and made numerous gifts for family and friends. Roger loved Columbo and Clint Eastwood movies. He also liked riding rollercoasters and going with family to Disney World and Darien Lake
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers Donald and Lester Merritt and sister Ellen Pratt.
Roger is survived by his loving wife Mary “Eileen”, children Jeffrey (Angela) Merritt, Linda (Sid) Johnson, Randall (Rose) Merritt, Thomas (Debra) Harnish, John (Sherrin) Harnish, Mary Ellen Lantz, James (Marcia) Merritt, Daniel Merritt, as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Roger's family will receive friends at the Sherrie Bream Funeral Home 4521 Main St. Gasport, NY 14067 on Friday, August 29th from 3:00-7:00pm where a brief service will be held at 7:00pm. Interment with military honors will take place privately at Hartland Central Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Hospice Foundation, P.O Box 590, Buffalo, NY 14240.
