O'NEIL, Roger W. Jr. Of Brookline, formerly of Plympton, passed away after a long illness, on June 27, 2025, at age 83. Devoted son of the late Roger, Sr. and Hortense (Dion) O'Neil. Loving brother of Dr. Barbara A. O'Neil and her husband, Rev. Dr. David A. Killian of West Newton. Cherished uncle to Brendan H. Killian and his wife, Hilary of Broomfield, CO; and their daughter, Astrid; and to Meeya A. Killian and her husband, Curtis Bartosz; and their daughter, Dessa of Monroe, WA. Also survived by dear cousins, Karen O'Neil of Nashua, NH; and her son, Christopher Wilkinson of Londonderry, NH; and Lorraine Cooper of Needham. As a child, Roger lived in Balboa Island, CA; Cannes, France; and Bainbridge, MD; where his father, a medical doctor, was stationed in the Navy. He graduated from Deerfield Academy in Deerfield and Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., where he was the captain of the lacrosse team. He received a J.D. from Boston University Law School and worked in Legal Aid, before being appointed Clerk Magistrate of the Plymouth District Court by Governor Michael Dukakis. He later served in the Boston Municipal Court (Civil Division). Roger donated conservation land to the Town of Plympton and was a great supporter of youth and the arts, donating musical instruments to the Youth Orchestra of Barbados and to numerous young artists in New England. Roger was a student of the history, art, and culture of countries around the world, which he happily discussed with young and old alike. He was an avid sailor and outdoorsman who enjoyed walks in the woods with "Star," his trusty Brittany Spaniel. Visitation will be held in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 5 Linden Pl., Brookline, on Saturday, July 26, from 1:00 - 2:00, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, at 2:00, which will be livestreamed, at
