Rev. Roger D. Parrott, age 87, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on September 8, 1938 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was the loving son of the late Garvin Lewis and Wahlice (Wear) Parrott. He was raised in Cohutta, Georgia and was a 1956 graduate of the Northwest Whitfield High School. In 1956, Roger was inducted into the United States Navy and was honorably discharged with the rate of Third Class Petty Officer in 1959. He also attended the University of Indianapolis. He was a former millwright for Local Union No.1454 Building Trades from 1966-1984. Roger was employed in mechanical maintenance for General Electric from 1984-1998. Roger was united in marriage to Beverly Alley Hall Houze on August 9, 2003 in Vevay, Indiana and they shared nearly 14 years of marriage together until her passing on February 19, 2017. Roger was later united in marriage to Vivian Louise Steinmetz Grizzell on March 23, 2019 at their home in Vevay, Indiana. Roger was a former pastor for Bennington United Methodist Church and Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. He was also the former pastor for Aberdeen United Methodist Church and for Ruter Chapel United Methodist Church for several years. He served on the Switzerland County YMCA board and the Community Foundation Board of Directors. He was also a former member of the Vevay Kiwanis Club. Roger enjoyed traveling and will be deeply missed by his family. Roger passed away at 8:15 a.m., Sunday, November 9, 2025, at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.
Roger is survived by his wife, Vivian Louise (Steinmetz) Parrott of Vevay, IN; his son, Roger Lewis Parrott and his wife, Rayna of Sunman IN; his step-children, H. William "Bill" Hall, II. and his wife, Becky of Florida, Barbara Hayes and her husband, George of Seymour, IN, Nancy Hall and her partner, Becky Owens of Indianapolis, IN, Janet Springer and her companion, Graham Watland of Indianapolis, IN, David A. Hall and his wife, Fion of Cambridge, MA, Diane Maureen Costido and her husband, David of Idaho Falls, ID, Deanna L. Grizzell and her companion, Brian McLaughlin of Eaton, OH, Kenneth William Grizzell and his wife, Rachel of Noblesville, IN, and Charlie Brenda Grizzell of Indianapolis, IN; his grandchildren, Brea Parrott and Nathan Parrott and his wife, Jacqueline; his great-grandchildren, Ayden, Riley, Zane, Adalynn, and Abel; his several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; his sister, Carol Ann Phipps of Sharonville, OH; his sister-in-law, Catherine Parrott of Ooltewah, TN; and his several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Garvin Lewis Parrott, died April 8, 1993; his mother, Wahlice (Wear) Parrott, died October 11, 1997; his wife, Beverly (Alley) Hall Houze Parrott, died February 19, 2017; his brother, John W. Parrott, died December 31, 2024; and his brother-in-law, Allen H. Phipps, died October 4, 2016.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 14, 2025, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 14, 2025, by Pastor LoJo Dunbar, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment and flag presentation will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
