Roger Vann Ridenhour, 69, of New London, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2023, at home.

Roger was born February 17, 1954, in Stanly county to the late Charles Luther Ridenhour and the late Christine Culp Ridenhour.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ridenhour; brother Wayne Ridenhour and brother-in-law Wayne Edwards.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm, Thursday, March 23, 2023, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be on Friday, March 24, 2023,  at 3:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel in Albemarle officiated by Pastor Danny Laws.

Roger was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  He met his loving wife, Shirley, in 1971 and was happily married for 47 years.  Roger was an avid fisherman and loved being on the lake, especially Badin Lake.  He was known for having won numerous fishing tournaments, for which he has accumulated many trophys.  Roger worked for the city of Albemarle as a supervisor for the water and sewer department for 25 years, after-which he retired.  He was an exceptional handyman and could fix anything and enjoyed sharing this gift with those in need.  Roger will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include daughter, Crystal Ridenhour; son, Roger Vann (Ashley) Ridenhour Jr.; grandchildren, Joanna (Corey) Hathcock, Courtney (Jimmy) Jacobs, Johnnie Little, Caroline Ridenhour and Kylee Ridenhour; great-grandchildren, Aubrey Martinez, Carson Winne, Aiden Jacobs and Claire Winne; sisters, Kaye (Robert) Goodman, Karen Edwards and sister-in-law, Regina Ridenhour; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Donations may be made to Hospice of Stanly County and The Uwharrie, 960 North First Street, Albemarle, NC 28001.
