Steven Strawn Ridenhour
It is with heavy yet grateful hearts that we celebrate the life of Steven Strawn Ridenhour, who passed away peacefully on November 20, 2024, in Alexandria, Virginia, at the age of 61. Born in Fayetteville, North Carolina, Steve lived a life full of purpose, joy, and love, leaving an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Steve was a proud graduate of Duke University and a natural leader, dedicated to both his community and his career. As a successful business owner, he balanced ambition with generosity, always finding time to uplift those around him. Whether mentoring others, volunteering, or brainstorming his next big idea, Steve tackled life with a winning mix of determination and charm.
Once an avid biker, golfer, marathon runner, and triathlete many times over, Steve was no stranger to adventure. His boundless energy and perseverance inspired everyone who knew him. Yet his favorite moments were often simplerspending quality time with his beloved family and dear friends. From shared meals to meaningful conversations, he made the ordinary extraordinary. Steves passion for the environment and love of the outdoors were reflected in his volunteer work with The Regeneration Project, a cause close to his heart.
Steve is survived by his loving wife, Ann Ridenhour; his four children, Joy, Reid, Hamilton, and Steven; and his devoted sisters, Amy Ridenhour Goodall and Preston Ridenhour Young. Together, they represent his greatest legacy: a family bound by love, laughter, and endless stories of a life well lived.
The family will receive friends at the Cunningham Turch Funeral Home, 811 Cameron Street, Alexandria, VA 22314 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM
A funeral service to honor Steve's remarkable life will be held on Saturday, November 23, at 11:00 a.m. at Virginia Theological Seminary, located at 3737 Seminary Road, Alexandria, Virginia 22304. All are welcome to join in remembering a man whose warmth, wisdom, and wit will forever be remembered.
In lieu of flowers, Steve would have you consider donations to the Huntingtons Disease Society of America (HDSA.org) or The Regeneration Project (https://interfaithpowerandlight.org/blog/2006/01/01/the-regeneration-project-powering-faith-communities-with-renewable-energy/). Alternatively, he would encourage just simple acts of kindness in your own communitiespreferably with a good cup of coffee and a bike ride afterward. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of crossing his path.
