Rita & family,
So saddened to hear of Roger´s passing. He was a wonderful doctor and friend to us and really took Heather under his wing when she became a physician. Rita, John and I remember when you guys would come in the steak house and split a chef salad. You guys were always so cute together! We will miss him dearly...

Mrs. Shenkel and family, I'm so sorry to hear of Dr. Shenkels passing. When we moved to Grand Jct back in 1988, Dr. Shenkel became our family physician. We all loved him so much. So much that since moving to North Carolina in 2005, his name has risen many times, kind and thoughtful memories. My husband especially loved him as he was treated for diabetes. Terry passed away 2 years ago and I'd thought of writing to Dr. Shenkel. May he rest in peace and I pray for you and your family. Thank you for your service to him that allowed him to serve all of us. Sending love and prayers. Sincerely, Debbie Roby

Roger was an incredible mentor and I am so grateful to him for inviting me to join their practice in 1998. He was a visionary in health care access and also a very compassionate physician. Patients to this day still talk about Roger and what a great doctor he was. He will truly be missed. My thoughts go out to Rita and their daughters and please know what a wonderful husband, father and family doc he was!! No one can fill his shoes! May all these wonderful memories help in this difficult time

Roger and Rita were the BEST neighbors! When we moved to Northridge Drive in 2004 with boys in kindergarten and second grade, Roger came over to introduce himself. He said, "We have a basketball hoop, and you're welcome to use it anytime. We love the sound of kids playing." The boys frequently took them up on that offer. Roger made sure they saw the owls in the trees and learned about rehabitating moose onto the Grand Mesa. Roger and Rita were just so kind - ALL the time. What inspirations they are and will forever be! I'm sending big hugs to Rita and to Roger's best friend Verne Smith. Love and peace to you all.

Roger was a big part of the reason John and I came to Grand Junction in 2004 and joined Primary Care Partners. What an amazing man who had a huge impact on health care in the Grand Valley. He will be missed and always remembered. Peace to the Shenkel family at this difficult time.

Dear Rita and family,
Sincerest condolences in the loss of a wonderful man. Dr. Shenkel delivered all 6 of my children - the last being twins- and always gave me a hard time when I would come to the office ...."Well Shelly, you´re pregnant AGAIN??!!" He was a sincere, compassionate and caring doctor and it was obvious he adored his family! I had the pleasure of seeing & visiting with him this last year when he would come in the restaurant with family and friends from time to time.
He will be missed by so many. Much love to you all.

Dr. Shenkel was the most professional, and caring doctor I have ever seen. He was also my boss in the early practice of Smith, Mohler & Shenkel. I have the highest regard for him and your family will be in my prayers.

Oh, no, Rita; such sad news. It was such a joy and a privilege to have known Roger since Manhattan and K-State days. Vivid memories abound: Roger's dad's geology classes, medical appointments, Moose matters, wading across the Dolores River to discover dinosaur tracks, conversing at the Symphony and more. Yes, a joy and a privilege for me to know Roger. I'll cherish the memories. My heartfelt condolences go out to Rita and family.

In childhood, I spent the night at the Shenkel home, and remember Mr. Shenkel's treasured newspapers. My condolences.
