Jason Silas, 51, passed away on April 13, 2025, at his childhood home in Guin, Alabama. He was surrounded by his loving family and his devoted dog, Riley.
A 1992 graduate of Liberty Christian Academy, Jason spent his life in and around Guin, where he built a reputation as a hard worker, a loyal friend, and a man always willing to lend a hand. For nearly 30 years, he worked alongside Dwight Roberts pouring and finishing concrete¬ more than just a job, it was a bond of family. In 2022, he began working at NTN Bower, bringing the same dedication and skill he was known for throughout his life.
Jason met his wife, Donna, in 1992, and they married in 1997. Though they didn't have children of their own, Jason was a proud and playful uncle to three nieces¬ Allison, Katie, and Lexi-who brought him immense joy (and who he took great pride in teasing and making laugh).
Jason had a close bond with his parents, Roger and Joyce. They have both passed, but there is no doubt they were proud of their only son. He had a special bond with his little sister, Tammy, and took great pleasure in tormenting her in only the way a big brother can. His love for her ran deep, even if he showed it with laughter and good¬ natured mischief. Jason also had a close relationship with his mother-in-law Mary, sister-in-law Melissa, brother-in-law Dwain, and his Aunt Judy. He loved his extended family deeply and valued the time spent with each of them.
Jason had a generous heart and a gift for helping others. He was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back without hesitation. He loved the outdoors¬ hiking, off-roading, and fixing up old trucks and classic Jeeps. If something was broken, Jason could fix it.
He had a deep love for animals, especially dogs. His four spoiled pups thought he hung the moon-and they weren't wrong. Jason was deeply devoted to his family and friends, and he especially cherished conversations about his favorite gear¬ whether it was flashlights, guns, or knives. He was like a real-life MacGyver, always prepared, with a tool (or three) tucked somewhere in his pockets.
He will be missed more than words can say.
Services held Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at 3:00 PM from the Veal Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Burial in the Guin City Cemetery. Bro. B.J. Mills officiating.
