Roger J. Sirowy

1932 - 2023

Roger J. Sirowy, 90, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Jan. 14, 2023. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his peaceful passing. Roger was born on June 25, 1932, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Joe and Sadie Sirowy. Roger graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1950. After high school, he attended Iowa State University for a short period of time. He returned to Cedar Rapids to work alongside his father at his father’s service station, “The Skelly Station� in Czech Town. Roger then had a career at Rockwell Collins for 29 years. Roger was united in marriage with his high school sweetheart, Marian, in 1951. Roger and Marian welcomed their son, Randy into the world on Sept. 20, 1952. Roger enjoyed fixing things, photography and collecting model cars. He was an avid golfer and was lucky enough to have made a hole in one! Roger is survived by his wife, Marian; son, Randy (Debbie) of Brighton, Colo.; grandchildren, Ryan (Desiree) and Jamie (Lee) Katchen of Brighton, Colo.; four great-grandchildren; and sisters, Sandra (Larry) Sedrel of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Doris (Rod) Vanvelson of Windsor, Colo. He was preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Hospice of Mercy.
