Roger Stillwell Obituary

Roger Gene Stillwell, born December 10, 1935, in Yuba City, CA, to Carl and Mildred Stillwell, passed away June 28, 2025.

Roger graduated from Yuba City High School in June 1953. While in high school, he enlisted in the Naval Reserves.

In 1957, he earned his degree from Sacramento State University and began a lifelong career with Caltrans as part of the Right Way Team in Marysville, CA, and Sacramento, CA.

In July 1957, Roger married Janis Johnson. Together, they built a life filled with love and adventure, raising their three children, Diana (Curt) Sanders, of Yuba City, CA, Sharon (Patrick) Rooney, of Capitola, CA, and Craig (Chris) Stillwell, of Lewiston, ID.

Roger was also a grandfather to seven grandchildren and a great grandfather to nine great grandchildren.

Roger had a passion for sailing and a hobby of collecting and repairing antique clocks. He spent quality time outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, and coaching his son in Little League. He was a past member of the Elks Club and Moose Lodge.

Roger and Janis had a love of travel, exploring numerous countries. They also had many adventures with their sailboats and motorhomes.

Roger was a past Commodore of the Oroville Yacht Club and a past member of the Oakland Yacht Club.

Roger will be remembered for his dedication to family, his sense of humor, his adventurous spirit, and his skilled craftsmanship. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew him.
