Roger Lynn Taylor passed away from his earthly home to his heavenly home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, in Star, Mississippi. Born on December 31, 1957, in Lexington, Kentucky, he was 67 years old.
Roger graduated high school from Council Manhattan High School in Jackson, Mississippi and attended college. He enjoyed working in Information Technology Services for 26 years dedicating the last years of his career to working at St. Catherine’s Village in Madison, Mississippi.
Roger was a dedicated husband to Dawn Taylor for 40 years and a loving father and grandfather. He took pride in caring for his home and yard and grilling for his family. He was an avid sports fan and could be found cheering for Mississippi State every season. He was a member of Star Baptist Church where he served as an usher and enjoyed fellowship with his Sunday School class.
Roger is preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis Ann Hampton and father, Newton Lane Taylor.
Surviving family members include Roger’s wife, Dawn Taylor, son, Ryan Taylor (Nicole), his grandchildren, Harrison Taylor and Charlotte Taylor, brother, Tracy Taylor (Sherry), sisters-in-law, Pam Walker (Kent), Sherry Matthews, Jeannie Duffey (Frank), and a host of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive those who wish to pay their respects for a visitation at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence, MS on Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 5:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. Services will be at Star Baptist Church on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. with a visitation before at 2:00 p.m. Graveside services to follow.
