Roger Titus Obituary
Roger Durrell Titus, 81, passed peacefully at home with his wife and two children at his bedside. Roger is survived by his wife of 59 years, his sister, two adult children, and three incredible grandchildren aged 12 to 19.
Roger was employed as an industrial arts teacher at Bolton High School for 32 years. During his career he had a profound impact on the young people he instructed. He was such a beloved teacher that he maintained deep personal friendships with many former students throughout the rest of his life. Roger was also an exacting master craftsman who built or restored all manner of furniture, houses, and cars.
It was Roger's goal to be retired as many years as he worked and he very nearly made it. He and his wife often fondly remembered traveling the country in a 1970 city bus that Roger spent 10 years restoring and converting into a "rockstar coach." The bus lives on today in a YouTube series traveling the country and was the "centerfold" in a national bus conversion magazine due to its incredible detail and fine craftsmanship. The bus is perfectly emblematic of Roger. He leaves behind a legacy of amazing people whose lives he touched as well as the finely crafted things he built. He passed while on a pillow his daughter made for him embroidered "By the Work One Knows the Workman."
Friends and relatives are welcome to join the family at Holmes-Watkins Funeral Home, located at 400 Main Street, Manchester, on March 16th from 1-3pm.
