Roger Tschiegg

It is with earthly sadness AND great heavenly joy, to share that Roger Tschiegg (age 85) joined his Heavenly Father on Monday, August 22, 2022.
Roger was born in Bluffton, Ohio to Albert and Bessie Tschiegg and graduated from Apple Creek High School. He served in the U.S. Army which established a lifetime of admiration and respect for his country. In 1957, Roger married Catherine Levers who he faithfully cherished as his life partner for over 65 years.
Roger dedicated himself to a career at Smith Dairy for nearly 40 years and then took on the challenge of serving as a Bus Driver for Dalton and Orrville schools. Roger found great joy and lifelong friendships with his fellow bus drivers.
Roger always had a love for the Lord and became an ordained minister during his early adult years. He was a pastor at The Chapel of Peace church and later became active at Orrville Christian Church, serving as an Elder and Sunday School Teacher. He had a heart for missions and traveled to Columbia and India where he had a particular passion for Lakeview Bible College & Seminary in Chennai. You could often find Roger tending to his beautiful flower and vegetable gardens, reading and studying his Bible, and simply enjoying his family and entertaining them with his humorous approach to life.
Roger s family is so grateful for the rich legacy he has provided of unwavering faith, integrity in all situations, devoted love to his wife and family and living life with a whole lot of fun and joy. All of these qualities will live on through his wife Cathy; daughters Deb (Dan) Himes and Sue (Dan) Hostetler; grandchildren Hannah (Phil) Haydn, Michal (Adam) Bowers, Chris Himes, Luke Himes and Lauren, Moe (Lusi) Hostetler, Rachel Himes, and Melinda (Brad) Coupe; and eight great grandsons (of which he adored). Roger will be missed by his surviving brother, Don Tschiegg and sisters-in-law Mary Tschiegg and Betty Tschiegg. We know he had a glorious reunion with his parents, brothers Vern, Bob and Larry and sisters Verena, Jane, and Julie who reached glory before him.
There will be a service to honor and celebrate Roger s life on September 10th at 11:00 a.m. at Orrville Christian Church. The family will receive friends following the service until 1:30 p.m. and would enjoy your condolences and memories during that time.
