Roger J. Vaughn, Jr., age 95 of Plymouth passed away on April 29, 2024.
Roger was born on May 2, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan to his parents, the late Genevieve (nee Sturgis) and Roger J. Vaughn.
He is the beloved and devoted husband of the late Anna L. Vaughn, who passed away on December 26, 2023; loving father of two children,
Barbara Vecchioni and David (Julie) Vaughn, proud grandfather of Christina (Jason) Hitchings, and great-grandfather of Ava and Olivia.
Roger lived his first few years in Plymouth before his family moved to Flint where he attended school through his graduation from high school. He then went on to graduate from the University of Michigan with a degree in mathematics. During that time, he met his future wife, Anna, who worked for his father as a secretary. Roger and Anna were married in 1951.
After a short time working for Standard Oil, Roger began working for Chevrolet, eventually transferring to Fisher Body in Livonia and returning to Plymouth where he and Anna had their two children, Barbara and David. Roger worked the rest of his career as an industrial engineer at Fisher Body and retired in 1988.
Over the years, Roger enjoyed many hobbies including amateur (Ham) radio. He was a charter member of the Stu Rockafellow Amateur Radio Society. He also enjoyed sailing, trailering, and woodworking as well as watching his favorite sports teams like the Tigers, Lions, and U of M football.
He enjoyed traveling with many yearly trips to Florida, and northern Michigan, especially the Beulah / Crystal Lake area.
Both Roger and Anna had many friends through Roger's 62-year, lifetime membership in the Plymouth Lions Club. They enjoyed many Friday night dinners with some of their Lions Club friends.
Roger will be missed by his family, friends, and all those who have helped him live the long life that he has lived.
His family welcomes all of his friends to celebrate his life by visiting the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth, Michigan on Thursday, May 2, 2024 from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the Funeral Service beginning at
