Obituary For Roger Lee Vredenburg

Roger Lee Vredenburg 76 of Virginia Beach passed away Monday, December 1, 2025 at Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, VA. He was born September 30, 1949, in Cornwall, NY. He was the son of the late William H. Sr and Elizabeth T. (Zint) Vredenburg. He grew up in Walker Valley, NY and was a graduate of Pine Bush Central High School class of 1967. He served four years in the US Air Force then attended OCCC Middletown NY for a couple of years before joining the US Navy in June of 1975.

Roger was very proud and committed to his Naval service. He retired in 1997 as a Senior Chief (E 8). Roger took a year off to spend time with family before he went back to work. His last job was with Cox Communication Internet Security. He retired from Cox in 2018. He loved traveling around this country and his goal was to visit all 50 states with his Wife Cindy. He only missed 7. Roger loved spending time puttering around the house and his gardens. He also loved eating any sweets that his wife and granddaughter baked...lovingly known as the "cookie monster".

He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years Cynthia (Cindy) and daughter Elizabeth Lynn (Jeff Lindenberg), granddaughter Maeve Leigh Norfolk, VA, his brother Gerald (Debbi) Vredenburg of Constantia, NY, sister-in-law Cheryl (Conyea) Vredenburg and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brothers William H Jr. of Norwood, NY. Albert C of Norwood, NY and Robert M. of Matamoras, PA.

Roger was a dedicated husband and father and absolutely loved spending time with his special little person Maeve. Our lives are forever changed without him.

To honor his wishes there will be no service.
