Roger Lee Weir

Roger Lee Weir, 76, of West Branch, passed away on February 11, 2026, at Crestview Specialty Care in West Branch, Iowa.

Roger was born on March 24, 1949, in Taylorville, Illinois. He was the son of Levi Max and Wanda Marie (McAllister) Weir. Roger was raised in Meeker, Colorado, then he went on to attend Mesa Junior College for four years and attended Fletchers Frontier School of the Bible for three years.

Roger was a great athlete and excelled in baseball. He was being scouted by the Cardinals, until a workplace accident caused a traumatic head injury. Roger was lucky to be alive and persevered after his injury. He worked various odd jobs throughout his life. From the Hy-Vee kitchen to janitorial work, Roger wore many hats. His last job was working as a Backroom Stocker. He prepared the items going out on the floor at Goodwill, which he had been doing since 1998.

Roger always maintained his faith; it was very important to him. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Iowa City for many years, before his move to Washington, Iowa.

Roger will be remembered for his positive spirit and outlook on life. He will also be remembered for his sense of humor.

Roger is survived by his cousin Glenn (Joan) Siders.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents.
