Roger Jay Weiss, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully in Trenton, New Jersey, on November 18, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on January 20, 1947, in Philadelphia, PA, Roger embraced life with unparalleled vigor and warmth. His journey through the years was marked by a steadfast dedication to family, community, and his passions.
He navigated through this world with an indomitable spirit, proudly serving as a Veteran of the U.S. Navy Reserves, demonstrating a commitment to duty that would resonate throughout his life. Roger spent over 21 years as a systems technologist with Bell Telephone, where his expertise and professionalism left an indelible mark in the industry.
Roger's life was a tapestry woven with threads of love and connection. He flourished in the protective embrace of family, deeply cherished by his wife, Florence B. Ganzel Weiss, with whom he shared a bond unwavering through the seasons of life. Their journey brought forth two remarkable children: R. Jason Weiss and his wife, Denise, alongside their daughter, Renee Jennifer Weiss Barber and her husband, Joshua. Each shared in the laughter, lessons, and love that permeated their home. He is also survived by his brother, Ralph James Weiss, Jr.
He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren: Dell, Nathan, Autumn, Millie, R., and Raya Jane, each bringing boundless joy and a reason to smile to his heart. Roger's legacy extends beyond the immediate family; he is survived by several nieces and nephews who carry his warmth in their memories and stories.
A devoted member of Calvary Chapel in Mercer County and Philadelphia, Roger's faith was the cornerstone of his life, grounding him in times of uncertainty and bringing him joy in moments of celebration. An aficionado of the intricate world of model trains, Roger found joy in the precision and artistry of his hobby, while his passion for photography captured the beauty of life in frames that now serve as portals to cherished memories.
Roger resided in Ivyland, PA for 12 years, then Ewing, NJ for another 12 years before making Morrisville his home for the last four years. His presence enriched every community he was a part of, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and camaraderie that will be profoundly missed.
Though he is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Weiss and Mildred Schofield Weiss, it is the indelible impact he had on those who knew him that remains. Roger Jay Weiss will be remembered not just for the roles he played or the achievements he accomplished, but for the love that radiated from him—a love that will continue to echo in the hearts of all who were fortunate to be touched by his warmth.
A memorial gathering to honor his life will take place on November 22, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a celebration of life from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, at the Calvary Chapel of Mercer County, located at 80 W Upper Ferry Road, Ewing Township, NJ 08628. Here, friends and family are invited to share in a tribute as beautiful as the life Roger led.
