Roger was one of those rare people who came into our lives and immediately felt like family. I will always smile thinking about him proudly carrying a tiny pink bike with training wheels and a flower basket through Walmart, or bringing his big flamingo plant holder to my daughter´s flamingo-themed 2nd birthday party.
One of my favorite memories is when my daughter introduced him to a friend and said, "This big guy over here is Roger." That was exactly who he was to us... big, kind, gentle, and full of love.
My son has autism, and Roger quickly became an advocate, sharing and supporting autism awareness in ways that truly touched my heart. It meant the world to me to see how deeply he cared. He even came to my son´s Easter egg hunt at school with my mom once - something that might seem small, but meant so much to me.
I will forever hold close the memories of our trips to the zoo, Ramseyer Farms, music performances, and his visits to Nashville. Our lives were better for having him in them, and I will always be grateful for the love and light he brought into our family.
Thanks for the love and the memories, Big Rog!
