Roger Williams Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Christian Sells Funeral Home on Jan. 26, 2026.
KJV: Proverbs 22:1 A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.
Roger "Dean" Williams: age 77, completed this life's journey on Saturday January 24, 2026 with his wife and children at his side, following a courageous battle with AML. By God's Grace and Mercy, he traveled that journey without pain or being sick, never complaining, and although the medical field says there no permanent cure, he never gave up hope that God would heal him. He may not have received it here, but he has received his healing now with a greater reward.
He was saved at a young age at New Salem Baptist Church, where he was a faithful member and deacon. He had served the church as Sunday School superintendent & teacher. He had also been a former member of Maple Hill Baptist Church for a number of years. He loved his Churches. He loved hearing the Gospel, and he loved the preachers that preach it.
He loved his family and his greatest desire for all of them was that they would all be saved and walk daily with the Lord.
He was an honest, dependable, strong willed man, yet he had an humble, gentle, loving & giving spirit.
He was a hard worker, and enjoyed working outside mowing, gardening, sawing wood, and was a bee keeper and a woodworker. He was a 1967 graduate of Rogersville High School and was retired from IPC&L/Mundet, having worked there for 43 yrs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville Williams and Dora Williams Ketron and his step-father Andrew Ketron. Great-granddaughter Brooklyn Rose & mother-in-law Bonnie Reeves.
He is survived by his loving & devoted wife of 55 yrs. Goldia Reeves Williams of the home, who was also his high school sweetheart: daughter & son-in-law Amanda & Mickey Rose, of Mt. Carmel; Son & daughter-in-law Adam & Regina Williams of Rogersville.
Eight grandchildren: Jordan (Emily) Rose, Jacob (Amberly) Rose, Ethan Rose, Carly (Eric) Morrison, Brock Williams & step grandson Zack (Hannah) Mullins.
Great-grandson Asher Rose and great-granddaughter Elinor Williams.
Sister, Ina (CB) Shanks of Kingsport & brother, Jack (Pam) Williams of Seymour. Sisters-in-law; Bennie Davis, Judy Reeves, & Delia Reeves and brother-in-law: Mack Reeves of Rogersville. A host of nieces & nephews, his Church family whom he loved dearly, and special friends and neighbors.
He was so touched and blessed by the outpouring of love and support from family, friends and neighbors that wanted to help in whatever capacity was needed during his sickness, especially the great number of people that was spread into many states that were praying for him and our family.
Our family sends a special thank you to the nursing staff of Kingsport Cancer Center for the excellent, loving care and support they showed him through this sickness.
KJV: 2 Timothy 4: 7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
