Published by Legacy on Sep. 19, 2025.
Roger Leonard Wills, 52, passed away after a brief illness on September 16, 2025 with his family at his side at home.
He was born in Morris, IL on August 1, 1973, a son of Renee (Reader) Nelson. Roger worked a variety of jobs throughout his life but he dedicated the majority of his life to the noble pursuit of farming. He took great pride in his hard work and contributing to the community. When Roger was not working you could find him playing his farm simulator games, never fully being away from his passion. Roger appreciated humor and enjoyed watching British comedies, which often provided a light-hearted respite from the daily grind.
In 1999 Roger met the love of his life, Ricqual Stalhood, and throughout the year their paths would cross until he finally asked her to be with him. They soon married in 2000 and spent every moment together. In 2006, Roger and Ricqual expanded their family and welcomed Nicole into their home.
Music played an integral part in Roger's life, a part that he shared deeply with his family, including his wedding song with Ricqual,"Inspiration" by Chicago. He would share some of his favorites with his daughter, "Let the Bodies Hit the Floor", "It's my Life" and "Down with the Sickness" and they would bond over these songs and create memories together. In addition, he found joy in attending car shows, where he admired the craftsmanship and history behind each vehicle. Roger relished in exploring diverse cultures through food, always eager to try something new.
Roger is preceded in death by his grandparents, Leonard and Dorthy Wills and a brother, Joey Wills.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his devoted wife, Ricqual of Wheeling; his daughter, Nicole Wills of Wheeling; a brother, Russell (Candace) Wills of Newton, IL; a sister, Tina Johnson of Scottsboro, AL; two sisters-in-law, Nancy Taylor of Fairmont, WV and Heather Jones of Inverness, FL; William Burke IV of Clarksburg, WV, who was like a son; Lori Audia and her daughter Paisley Audia of Bridgeport, WV, who he considered a daughter and granddaughter; his great-aunt Emily Wills of Coal City, IL; his great-uncle Paul Wills of Coal City, IL; several nieces and nephews and his beloved fur babies, including Rue Rue his ESA.
