Roger Lee Winland

Roger Lee Winland, 83, of Waverly, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born on September 9, 1942, in St. Mary's, WV, Roger was the son of the late William (Bill) and Minnie Scadden Winland. A proud 1961 graduate of St. Marys High School, Roger went on to build a fulfilling career before retiring from American Cyanamid (Cytec) at the age of 61.

On October 20, 1964, Roger married the love of his life, Loretta Meeks Winland. Together they shared 61 beautiful years of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Roger was a man deeply rooted in faith, guided by his love for Jesus and his family. He was known for his integrity, strong work ethic, and the kindness he extended to everyone he met.

Roger took great joy in the accomplishments of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, attending countless games and events as their biggest supporter. A true sports enthusiast, he especially loved pitching horseshoes-a pastime that reflected his steady hand and competitive spirit.

Roger is survived by his beloved wife, Loretta, and their children, Kimberly Bartrug (Mark), Reina Maston (Chuck), Troy Winland (Lisa), and Buffy Mendenhall (Matt) and Grandchildren, Zach Kirkpatrick (Corey), Dustin Bartrug (Tracey), Cody Bartrug (Ginger), Seth Bartrug, Jessica Johnson (Travis), Tony Maston (Claire), Tiffany Hughes (Jake), Cole Maston, Alyssa Winland, Daniel Winland, Katelyn Winland, Austyn Kephart, Tesia Kephart, Nathan Kephart, Gavin Mendenhall and Gracie Mendenhall and 23 Great-Grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Mary Sue Rowe (Greg) and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Billie Dean and Kenny Winland and a Great Grand Daughter, Quinn Lucille Bartrug.

Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, November 23, 2025 at Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, WV with Pastor Cody Bartrug officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasants Memorial Estates, Eureka, WV. Friends may call from 12 to 2:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
