Roger Dale Yates

ROGER DALE YATES, 81, of Louisville, passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Baptist Health Louisville.

Born in Hardin County, Roger was a dedicated educator who retired from Jefferson County Public Schools. In addition to his years in education, he also worked as a Manufacturing Engineer and spent a brief time in home building. Roger proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Roger was a born-again Christian and a faithful, loyal husband, father, and provider. He was especially talented with his hands and enjoyed woodworking, auto mechanics, and cross-stitching. He was also an avid sports fan, particularly enjoying golf and NFL football.

Roger was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Delma Jean Yates; his son, Barry Glen Yates; his parents, Charlie and Hazel Yates; and his brother, Marvin Yates.

Left to cherish his memory is his son, Marvin Dale Yates (Jennifer); his sister, Debbie Lynn Yates (Jim Huddleston); his nieces, Shanna Yates and April Whitney Smith (A.J.); his grandchildren, Carter Yates, Michael Yates, Joseph Yates, Jesse Yates, Chris Yates, and Tyler Steff; and his great-grandchildren, Jayden Steff, Willow Steff, Lane Yates, and Emily Yates.

Visitation will be held from 2:00–5:00 p.m. on Monday, February 23, 2026, at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home – Jeffersontown, 10600 Taylorsville Road. His funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with cremation to follow.
