Rojelio Gutierrez Aviles "Pepino" January 14, 1939 – September 27, 2025 Rojelio Gutierrez Aviles, lovingly known as "Pepino," passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on January 14, 1939, in Seguin, Texas, Rojelio was the beloved son of Julian Aviles and Maria Gutierrez. A longtime resident of Uvalde, Texas, Rojelio dedicated 35 years of service to the City of Uvalde. His work ethic, loyalty, and quiet strength left a lasting impression on his colleagues and community. Rojelio had a deep love for life's simple pleasures - spending time with his family, gardening, caring for his animals, and dancing. Known for his smooth moves, he even took home a few trophies from local dance contests. In retirement, he kept active collecting scrap metal and sharing laughs with his neighbors and friends. But above all, his greatest joy was being with his children - especially his best friend and pride, his son, Rojelio Jr. He is survived by his devoted son, Rojelio Aviles Jr., and five loving daughters: Martha Robledo and husband Alfredo, Nora Ledesma, Anita Aviles and husband Rene, Rosalinda Trevino and husband Alfred, and Norma Aviles and companion Robert Moss. He also leaves behind his brother, Alfonso Aviles and wife Janie; 36 grandchildren; 69 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren - a legacy of love that spans generations. Rojelio was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 37 years, Amparo Aviles; his daughter Lydia Esquivel; his parents; six brothers: Jesus, Francisco, Elias, Silvestre, Raul, and Ruven Aviles; and five sisters: Rebecca Vargas, Concuela Hernandez, Elvida Ovalle, Rosa Aviles Lopez, and Mary Lou Aviles. A Visitation will be held Saturday, October 4, 2025 and Sunday, October 5, 2025 from 12:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Hillcrest Memorial Funeral Home, Chapel of Serenity, a Rosary will take place at 7:00 P.M. both days.
