It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mr. Roland Hodges Haddock who peacefully transitioned to his heavenly home, January 5, 2026.
Born on June 11, 1955, Roland was a devoted husband, father, mentor, and business owner. In 1962, Roland, alongside his father would start what would come to be, Haddocks Tire and Brake in Washington NC. The family business that Roland helped build from the ground up and would continue to work in the shop alongside his son, J. R. Haddock, for the next 30 years. Roland was known for his work ethic, his kind heart, and a lifelong passion for serving others, becoming a trusted friend to many.
Roland was not just a businessman. When not at the shop, Roland enjoyed attending baseball games, spending time with his Moose Lodge brothers, eating any food the boys brought him to eat, and creating memories that will continue to live on for generations.
Roland was preceded in death by parents Leon and Miriam Haddock; siblings James Haddock, and Mary Haddock Clark.
Roland is survived by his wife, Mary Susie Haddock of 40 years, of the home. Sons, Junior R. Haddock, James Ball and wife Kristy and Michael Ball and wife Samantha. Siblings, Helen Daniels, Ellen Watkins of OKC, OK, and L.C. Haddock, of Pensacola FL. Grandchildren, Ashton Ball, Alexis Ball, Courtney Hudnell, Preston Broome and Kayden Broome. Niece, Betty Waters Woolard (Jerry) Lifelong friends, Linda and Danny Haislip.
A visitation well be held at Joseph B. Paul Jr. Funeral Service in
Washington, NC on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 from 6:00-8:00pm. A funeral service will be held at Joseph B. Paul Jr. Funeral Service the following day, Thursday, January 8, 2026 at 12:00pm, with burial to follow at Pamlico Memorial Gardens in
Washington, NC.
Roland's legacy will be remembered through his family and the impact he made in his community with his continuous acts of love and service.
