Roland D. Jacques, 84, of Lewiston, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2026, with his beloved wife at his side at the Maine Veterans Home in So. Paris.

Roland dedicated much of his life to serving others. He began his lifelong commitment to serving others by joining the United States Army 101st Airborne Division. Upon discharge, he went to barber school in IL and worked as a barber in
Champaign, IL for 6 years before returning to Maine. He became a firefighter with the city of Lewiston for 10 years during which time he graduated as an EMT in the first class of certified EMTs in Lewiston and Auburn. His courage and commitment to protecting and caring for others left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
He also served as President of the Firefighters Union for 3 years where he stood as a strong and respected voice for his fellow firefighters.

He became a union representative for AFSCME Maine and then worked for the Commissioner of the Dept of Transportation as his representative for 7 years.
Later in life, he left state employment and he felt a calling to serve in a different way - through his faith where he became a minister. He served as minister of pastoral care, adult Sunday School teacher and commander of Royal Rangers at the Assembly of God church in Lewiston for 10 years until he was disabled due to a heart condition.
He continued serving God by becoming an ordained priest with the Old Catholic Communion of North America in 2001 and Old Catholic Bishop of Maine in 2004. He touched many lives by ministering and saying Mass at Bolster Heights nursing home for 7 years.
As a man of faith, he guided, comforted, and inspired many, sharing God's word with compassion. His faith was not only something he preached, but something he lived every day, touching countless lives through kindness, wisdom and love.
