Roland L. Richard, 77 of Chandlerville, died Thursday, January 1, 2026 at his home.

He was born August 9, 1948 in Chandlerville, the son of Howard and Thelma Kirchner Richard. He married Thelma Alexander in October 1966 and she survives in Chandlerville.

He is also survived by his children Amy Feeler (husband Scott) of St. James, MO, Monica Noble, and Mark Shilling; numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and one brother Danny Richard (wife Joyce) of Kansas City, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents and numerous brothers and sisters.

Roland attended Chandlerville schools. He worked for Oscar Mayer for over 20 years. After its closing, he went back and worked many additional years as an electrician with the IBEW Union.

Fishing was a big part of Roland's life, whether on the Illinois or Sangamon Rivers or spending quiet time at his cabin. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing in men's summer softball leagues. A dedicated and hardworking man, Roland found his greatest comfort and happiness simply being at home and with his family.

Cremation rites have been accorded and private family burial will be held in Chandlerville Cemetery. Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials have been suggested to Illinois Conservation Foundation. Condolences may be left online at www.colwellmemorialhome.com or on Facebook at Colwell Memorial Home.
