Rolland “Rollie” Schroeder, age 86, passed away on November 5, 2025.
Rollie was born May 9, 1939 in Waupun, the son of Hans and Violet Bierman Schroeder. On July 27, 1973 he was united in marriage to Barbara Oosterwyk in Alto. The couple resided in the Alto area most of their married lives. Rollie was employed at Maysteel in Mayville for 42 years, retiring in 2001. He was an avid bowler for many years, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching sports. Upon his retirement he spent much of his time serving the community, particularly the elderly, including 23 years working and volunteering at the Waupun Senior Center. Rollie was an active member of Alto Reformed Church where he started helping out as an usher and after retirement enjoyed taking Christmas gifts provided by the church to older church members for many years.
Rollie is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara; two children, Don (Annette) Schroeder and Dawn (Jeff) Martin; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren; a sister, Mary VanRuiswyk; two brothers, Gordon (Christine) Schroeder and Dennis (Christine) Schroeder; along with several nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-laws: Ross (Gloria) Hutchison, Harmon (Deb) Oosterwyk, Bernie (Marilyn) Oosterwyk, and Mark (Marilyn) Zeatlow.
Rollie was preceded in death by a sister, Delores Scherer; an infant son; an infant grandson; as well as his parents; and father and mother-in-law, Lambertus (Naomi) Oosterwyk.
Visitation for Rollie will take place on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at Alto Reformed Church from 9-11 a.m. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at 11 a.m. at church with Pastor Randy McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Mound Cemetery.
