Rollin Tebeau Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 8, 2024.
It is with great sadness that the family of Rollin W. Tebeau announce his passing. In the presence of loved ones, Rollin went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 14, 2024, at the age of 78.
Rollin was the eldest of three sons born to Roy and Dorothea Tebeau in Port Huron, Michigan. His family moved frequently, and as a result he attended four different high schools. Rollin worked on a shrimp boat in high school, often bringing home a bucket of shrimp he would clean with his Mom.
Rollin enlisted in the U.S. Navy, served for four years, and saw action during the Vietnam War. He went on to serve his country as a U.S. Government employee for the rest of his career.
In 1970, Rollin married Mary Joan Kudis in Homestead, PA. Mary was devoted to raising their two children, Melisa and Christian in South Florida. Rollin's work was demanding and he had to travel for periods of time without notice. However, he was a true "Family Man" fiercely devoted and proud of his wife and children as well as his parents and brothers.
In 1995, Rollin retired and shortly after left town, moving closer to his parents and brother who lived in Jacksonville. Rollin grew Bonsai trees, some were over 40 years old. He also loved orchids that he hung in the trees. He could easily grow plants from cuttings with his green thumb. He cut so many trees down, he considered himself part lumberjack. He built anything possible in his barn, including toy chests and highchairs for his grandchildren. He enjoyed boating, landscaping, volunteering and socializing at the VFW, and doing for others.
Rollin was predeceased by his parents, Roy and Dorothea, and his first wife, Mary.
He is survived by his loving family, his devoted wife of 15 years, Dr. Gloria Z. Moore; his daughter Melisa (Timothy) Haggerty, son Christian (Kimberly) Tebeau, grandchildren Victoria and Sean Haggerty and Charleen Tebeau; brothers James (Carol) Tebeau and Dennis Tebeau; stepchildren Matthew (Janelle) Moore and Dr. Mariellen Moore; step-grandchildren Juliette and M. Thomas Moore.
A memorial service will be held at Christ the King Anglican Church on Tuesday, October 15 at 10:00 AM. He will be laid to rest at the Jacksonville National Cemetery, where he will be buried with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your charity of choice or the VFW. An Alaskan sled dog will be sponsored in his honor, named Rollin Watlz at DogGoneIt in Alaska, with attributes similar to Rollin including energetic, can do mindset, team worker, and helpful friend.
Words of Rollin Tebeau: "I tell everyone, be safe on the road, it's crazy out there. When a car costs like a house and gas is over three dollars a gallon "
