Rometta Carol Hicks

Rometta Carol Hicks, a beacon of kindness and selflessness, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on May 25, 1946, in Little Rock Lick, Kentucky, Rometta's life was a testament to her unwavering friendliness and generous spirit.

Rometta was a proud graduate of Brown City High School and shared a commitment to her faith, as evidenced by her longstanding membership at the Memphis Baptist Church.

Rometta was a devoted mother to Alvis and Lisa Hicks, a loving sister to Jeff (Deanna) Childers and Jenny (Joe) Vincent, and a cherished grandmother to Thomas, Amanda, Donald, Christopher (Pana) and Austin. Her joy was further multiplied by her great-grandchildren Amaya, Khloe, Kane, and Gemma, who brought her immense happiness. Rometta's family was the cornerstone of her life, and she nurtured each relationship with care and affection.

Rometta's love for animals was evident in the special bond she shared with her beloved dog, Rocco. Her home was always filled with the warmth of her pets, and the sound of pages turning as she indulged in her favorite pastime, reading. Rometta's interests were a reflection of her gentle soul and her desire to always be surrounded by the things and beings she loved.

Her life was enriched by the friendships she formed, particularly with her good work friend Betty. Together, they shared countless memories and supported each other through life's ups and downs. Rometta was preceded in death by her parents, Ruford and Mildred, her siblings Gracie, Charles, Ray, Joanie, and Mary, and her dear friend Linda. Their guidance and love shaped Rometta into the remarkable woman she was, and their legacy continues through her.

Funeral service 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 12, 2026 at Carman Funeral Home - Brown City, where family and friends may visit 3:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday. Pastor Greg Ross officiating. Rometta will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Rometta may be made to any library.
