Mrs. Romona "Mona" L. Anderson, 76, of Galesburg, Illinois, passed away peacefully at her home at 9:13 p.m. on Monday, November 3, 2025.

She was born on February 17, 1949, in Pekin, Illinois, the daughter of Walter and Vera C. (Swank) Lockwood. Mona married the love of her life, Tommy D. Anderson, on October 9, 1965, in Abingdon, Illinois. They shared 57 wonderful years together before his passing on June 22, 2023.

Mona is survived by her daughter, Mary Anderson of Galesburg, four brothers: Robert "Bob" (and Barb) Swank of Abingdon; Harold (and Carol) Lockwood of North Carolina; Walter (and Torrie) Lockwood IV of Alpha, Illinois; and Curtis Lockwood of Peoria, Illinois, and a special great niece who cared for her, Cheryl Kay (Simmons) Johnson of East Galesburg, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Jeff Lockwood; and a sister, Philajean "Sue" Lewis.

A devoted homemaker, Mona also operated a day care center from her home, where she cared for countless children with love and kindness. She was a woman of the Catholic faith whose gentle spirit and compassion touched many lives. Mona enjoyed crocheting, helping others, and sharing her warmth with everyone she met. She had a special place in her heart for her cats, especially her beloved Peanut, and her cat, Casper, who preceded her in passing.

Cremation will be accorded, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Knox County Humane Society in Mona's honor. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be shared at www.h-p-w.com.
