Ron Angerhofer was born on August 22, 1929 in Aberdeen SD to William and Viola (Olson) Angerhofer. He spent his early years in Aberdeen until the family relocated to Milan, MN, where they farmed. They returned to Aberdeen, where Ron attended Aberdeen Central High School. In 1947 Ron joined the US Marine Corps. He made several deployments with the US Navy to include visits to Europe. Ron was discharged from the Marine Corps in 1950 but was recalled to active duty shortly after and sent to Korea, where he served with the 1St Marine Division. He was again discharged in 1951 and returned to Aberdeen, where he met and married Ruth Millard. They have two sons, Michael and Mark.
He became a fireman and ambulance driver with the Aberdeen Fire Department, and also worked part-time supporting his father's company, Aberdeen Wilbert Vault. He left the fire department to manage the vault company when his father retired in the mid 1960s. He continued to run the company until his own retirement in 1995, when he turned over management to his son Michael.
Following retirement, Ron and Ruth turned their stained-glass hobby into the RACO Stained Glass business. They also loved to travel, visiting locations throughout the US, China, and Europe. Ron also gave freely of his time, serving as a Scoutmaster for St. Mark's Episcopal Church's Troop 114, delivering Meals on Wheels with Ruth for 30 years, assisting at Camp Courage, and supporting the Marine Corps League and their annual Toys for Tots programs. He was a 70-year member of American Legion Post 24 and a long-term member of St. Mark's church.
Grateful for having shared Ron's life are his son, Michael, his wife, Jean, grandsons Charles and his wife, Morgan and their daughters Cashlyn and Rhian, Thomas, and David; son, Mark and his wife Brenda.
Preceding Ron in death are his wife, Ruth in August of 2022 and parents, William and Viola Olson.
