Ron Furman Obituary

We remember the life of Ron "Boner" Furman, an adventurous spirit who laughed in the face of the ordinary. Born on August 15, 1953, in Wellington, Kansas, Ron lived a rich and exciting life until his passing on September 14, 2025 in Rogers, Arkansas. He was a man of ambition, a generous friend, and an incurable joker who would have wanted us to remember him with laughter and joy.
Ron was a conductor, guiding trains along their tracks for over 40 years with BNSF Railroad. But his adventurous spirit didn't stop at the railroad tracks. He was an avid gardener, fisherman, camper, and music lover. Ron was known for his woodworking skills, particularly his uniquely crafted birdhouses. Following retirement, he relocated to Bella Vista, Arkansas where he was able to more fully enjoy his beloved hobbies. He was a member of the Bella Vista Garden Club, cultivating both flower and vegetable gardens with care as well as his recent victory in growing a banana tree. We can't forget his love for music festivals and camping trips at The Farm in Arkansas. His guitar and banjo skills were the highlight of many a gathering. Ron was a jack of all trades, master of none, but always willing to lend a hand. As Mark Twain once said, "The secret of getting ahead is getting started," and Ron was never afraid to start a new project or adventure.
Boner is lovingly remembered by his family and friends, whom he always kept on their toes with his quick wit and funny antics. He was a people person, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a laugh.
He is survived by his wife of 8 years, Peggy (Stewart) Furman of Bella Vista, Arkansas; daughter, Bryanna Spafford and husband David of Emporia, Kansas; daughter, Staci Reuter and husband Brad of Shawnee, Kansas; son, Spencer Furman of Wellington, Kansas; nine grandchildren: Chris, Dani, Patrick, Alex, Camryn, Jaclyn, Mia Kate, Jillian, and Ava; a brother, Jim Furman and wife Linda of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Ruby Furman and a brother, Criss Furman. As we remember Ron, we hold on to his spirit of adventure, his ambition, his generosity, and, most importantly, his ability to make us all laugh.
The Celebration of Life for Ron Furman will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Knights Of Columbus Hall, located at 201 East Harvey Avenue, Wellington, Kansas. His family will hold the celebration and invite all who knew and loved Ron to join us as we celebrate his life and the joy he brought into ours.
In lieu of flowers, his family encourages you to make a donation to something that supports peace. Ron often said that he would prefer world peace over any gift that he could be given.
