Ron Grose

Ron Grose, 85, of Macksburg, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.
Ronald James Grose was born in Madison County, Iowa on March 20, 1938, the son of Rosco and Ida (Smith) Grose. He graduated from Van Meter High School in 1956. He was united in marriage to Caroline Waltz at the United Brethren Church in Van Meter on January 3, 1964 and was blessed with three children, Torey, Margo and Clint.
Ron farmed most of his life. When he wasn't farming, he spent time doing a variety of unique hobbies. He would make ethanol using wind generators and solar panels for different projects. He enjoyed writing computer programs, taking flying lessons, and making wine. He also enjoyed deer and coon hunting, taking pictures and using his trail cameras, cutting wood for his wood burning stove, doing woodworking, and beekeeping. Ron loved playing all different kinds of card games with his grandchildren, playing spider solitaire, and making and flying radio controlled planes. He even spent time adopting wild mustangs and working with them.
Ron is survived by his wife, Caroline; children, Torey Grose of Redfield, Margo (Jason) Hulliung of Kimberling City, MO, and Clint (Amanda) Grose of Oak Harbor, WA; grandchildren, Alex and Andrew Hulliung and Alyssia Grose; sister, Sandra (Mark) Brown; cousin, Peggy Eichner; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and George Bown.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 1, 2023 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel. Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in the Union Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions and donations for Ron may go to the Macksburg United Methodist Church or EveryStep Hospice.
