Ron Hein

Ronald Dean Hein, passed away on Monday, September 11, 2023 in Niles, Michigan.
"Ron" was born on January 6, 1961, to the late Raymond Hein and Dolores (Fuson) Hein.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents.
Left to cherish the memory of Ron are his loving wife of many years, Leona Anne Hein; and children, Kathryn Hein, Margaret Hein, Elizabeth (Trevor) Hein, Eleanor Hein, and Samuel (Anna) Hein.
Ron was a lifelong "tech guy" who worked at Niles Community Schools and was a constant supporter of his childrens' interests in any way he could be. He was a member of the FFA Alumni Organization, the epitome of a "Band Dad" in the Band Boosters, and an ever-present member of sport and theater audiences alike. He was an active member of both the Michiana Amateur Radio Club and the Blossomland Amateur Radio Association (W9RDH) and sought out many geocaches locally and throughout the country (RDHLongbow). He was quick to step up as a volunteer for any organization and do good for the community. He and his wife of nearly 39 years enjoyed social ballroom dancing and finding a flight of craft beer or bourbon whiskey. His support of his children was second only to that of his wife and any eccentric endeavor she
attempted. He was quick to make friends and kept those friendships deeply and for many years. He made many of those through his participation in bowling and softball leagues from college all the way through adult recreation.
Despite his commanding physical presence, Ron was a gentle soul who could often be found in his recliner snuggling the family dog, Lucky. He was admired by many for his integrity and quick-witted humor and will be dearly missed.
A Celebration of Life for Ronald will be held on Sunday, September 24 from 1-3 p.m. at the Howard Township Hall at 1400 Barron Lake Road, Niles, Michigan. Light refreshments will be provided.
In lieu of flowers, the family would ask you to consider a donation made through Northwestern Memorial Foundation (foundation.nm.org) stating that the donation should be directed towards "Dr. Aparna Kalyan's Cancer Research Program."
