Ron Hughes, age 77, of Luana, IA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on August 7, 2025. He was born on August 16, 1947 in Postville, IA. Ron was a devoted father and grandfather. He graduated from Postville High School in 1965, served in the army, then returned home to farm until 1989. After farming, he worked for Drahn's fixing farm machinery then drove semis for Mark Zieman.

Ron loved to play cards with family and friends, to go fishing in IA, MN and even Canada, to attend the grandchildren's school activities, and to travel around the US visiting relatives and seeing the sights, and even to the United Kingdom with his sister Linda and her husband Bruce. He was an active member of Monona AMVETS for many years.

Ron is survived by Linda, his wife of 56 years, his children Travis (Dawn), Toby (Kim Askeland) and son-in-law Nick Kestler; his grandchildren Mac Hughes, Elora Hughes, Lily Hughes, Jordan Fury, and Madison Hughes; his sister Linda (Bruce) Schoening and his brother Rick (Patti) Hughes; and by many cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Evart and Lilah Hughes, his sister Donna Gross, and his daughter Kari Kestler.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
