Ron Walker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Scot Ward Funeral Services - Conyers on Jan. 4, 2026.
Larry Ronald Walker, born on July 5, 1947, in Atlanta, Georgia, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026, in Conyers, Georgia, surrounded by his loving family. He lived a life filled with love, dedication, and service, and his memory will forever be cherished by those who knew him.

Ron was the son of Lawrence Edward Walker, Sr. and Evelyn Bailey. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents and his sisters, Helen Crane, Evelyn DeLong, and Terry Jean Coleman. Ron's family was always at the center of his world, and he is survived by his devoted spouse of 54 years, Malinda Walker; his loving daughter, Andrea Walker; and his adoring son, Todd Walker. He also leaves behind his sister and brother-in-law, Donna and David Gibson, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will carry his legacy forward.

Ron proudly served his country by enlisting in the Army in 1967, where he earned the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and became an expert with the M-14 rifle. His service exemplified his commitment to duty and diligence, traits that he carried into every aspect of his life.

On January 23, 1971, Ron married Malinda, and together they built a beautiful life filled with shared dreams and unwavering support. Their bond was a testament to love and partnership, and they celebrated over five decades of marriage.

After dedicating 35 years of his career to Delta Airlines, Ron transitioned to Scot Ward Funeral Services, where he worked for 20 years. His professional journey reflected his caring nature, as he devoted his time to supporting others during their most challenging moments.

A long-standing member of Cross Point Christian Church, Ron was active in his community and embraced the spirit of fellowship and service. He found joy in the simplest things, like feeding the deer that visited his home, a pastime that brought peace and contentment to his life.

Ron's kindness, integrity, and warm-hearted spirit touched everyone he met. He was a man who approached life with a smile and a willingness to lend a helping hand. His family and friends will remember him not just for his accomplishments, but for the love and laughter he brought into their lives.

Memorial service will be held Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Scot Ward's Green Meadow Chapel with Curt Zehner officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, January 9, 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family asks for a donation to Cross Point Christian Church, American Heart Association, or Alzheimer's Association. Condolences may be submitted on-line at www.scotward.com.
