Ron Williamson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by A.W. Rich Funeral Home - Fairfax on Feb. 6, 2026.
Ron J. Williamson Jr., 64 of Shelburne Vermont, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep from kidney failure on February 2, 2026 at UVMMC. He was born on July 23, 1961 in Rochester, NH to Ronald J. Williamson and Brenda J. (Sheehan) Williamson. Ron grew up in Essex Junction, Vermont.

Ron grew up in a busy house, where his mom also ran a daycare. There were always lots of kids around! Ron loved to organize neighborhood games, such as Kick the Can, Spud and Croquet. He was up for fun day or night. He kept busy and made money as a paperboy delivering Grit in Essex Junction. He loved to visit with his customers, especially those that would invite him in for a snack. As a young adult he worked for his dad as an electrical apprentice, but eventually decided to work for a couple of different electrical supply houses, IBM and later in a machine shop.

Ron loved to go to flea markets as an adult. He would bring home old tools and clean them up so they had a 2nd life. He loved to do projects and often would say he needed time to tinker, putter and fiddle. He still spent many days at his family home in Essex Jct, working on projects in the basement workshop that he set up as a kid. There he would help his sister Joan, who now owns the house with all sorts of projects. One thing he always stayed on top of was setting dozens of mouse traps to make sure there were no mice in the house or barn! Ron loved to write and tell jokes, he had written his own book of jokes and loved word play. Ron was always up for a day trip of errands, getting a meal somewhere or enjoying time with family. He would joke that after a big meal we should stop for fast food on the way home. We never did, but it made him laugh. He especially loved when we would have Grandkids day. He loved to see all of his nieces and nephews! Ron was thoughtful and kind and would call everyone he was friends with on their birthday and often send cards. Ron loved to listen to music, going to shows at the fair or his favorite programs on the radio.

Ron was part of a large and loving family. He was the 3rd of 8 children. He leaves behind his siblings and their families: Joan Williamson, her daughters Morgan Safford and Caitlin Boivin, and husband Joel Boivin, Helen Williamson, Dott Lamore and husband Steve Lamore, her daughter Shannon Berman, her husband Andrew Berman and their children Jon and Mirabelle Berman, Jennifer Sorrell and husband Scott Sorrell, their sons Brian and Dylan Sorrell, brother-in-law Bob Terrill his wife Katie Bilotta, his children James Terrill and Meg Gallup and her husband Jon Gallup, and Desiree Fields. He also leaves his step mother Vicki Williamson and a large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was predeceased by his father Ronald Williamson in 1999, his mother Brenda Williamson in 2017, his sister Kathie Terrill in 2012 and his brother Paul Williamson in 2020.

A special thanks to his team! Those who cared for him and helped him navigate the world.

The family has planned a celebration of life for June 20th at 11am at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Burlington, Vt and will place his ashes during a private family get together. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers in Ron's memory may be made to the Howard Center. https://howardcenter.org/donate/
