Rona Simonds Savage, born on 06/25/1933 to Bryden Simonds and Auretta Largey Simonds passed away 11/05/2025 at Weeks Hospital after a brief illness.
Rona was a cheerleader and graduate of Kennett High School, she was also a long time member of the Advent Christian Church in Whitefield. She was willing to try and do anything for her family and due to this developed a number of skills. She sewed, knit, sketched, painted and embroidered. She loved to hunt with her father and taught her own children to shoot a 22 in the back yard. She was a waitress and a chambermaid at the Weathervane Inn and for a time managed the dinning room at the Spaulding Inn, she even worked on the ski lift at Bretton Woods. For a time she laced shoes for a manufacturing company based in Littleton which allowed her to stay at home with her children, she taught herself to cut hair, first her own then all the children became her models. At one time she was the director of a kindergarten in Whitefield. Rona was a long time resident of the Morrison Nursing Home.
Rona is predeceased by her husband Eugene R Savage, daughter Rogena Savage Havener, grandson Shane Havener and brother Carl Simonds.
She is survived by her sister Betty Lou Walker and brother-in-law Reid, sister-in-law Evelyn Simonds, daughter Roxanne Whiting Magoon and husband Dave, son Reverend Bryce Whiting and wife Barbara, daughter Patricia Whiting Fuller and husband Dave, daughter Rebecca Whiting, daughter Holly Whiting Jubree and son Brett Savage. 16 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, 5 nieces and nephews, 3 great nieces and nephews and 3 great-great nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the Advent Christian Church, 3 School Street in Whitefield at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 15th. Burial will follow at Park Street Cemetery. Refreshments will be served at the church after.
