Ronald Edward Aerts, 73, is the last person anyone would have expected to leave us in such an unexpected fashion. A man of few words, he was known for working longer and harder than anyone, including people half his age. Ron was born to Richard and Lumina Aerts on September 29, 1951, in Muskegon, MI. He was a graduate of Muskegon Catholic High School and Muskegon Community College.
Ron leaves behind his wife Linda of 24 years. His sister Vicki (Terry) Hoofman. Three children survive him: Matthew (Kelley), Nathan (Brenda), and Season (Chris) VanderWal. Three step-children: Will (Bonnie) McIntyre. Ten grandchildren: Paige, Parker, Tessa, Emma, Cole, Carson, Cydney, Marshall, Daniel, and Madisyn, and two great-grandchildren, Greyson and Remington.
An avid outdoorsman, Ron recently traveled with his lifelong friend Larry TenBrink on a long-awaited hunting trip to Iowa. Ron spent most of his career as a grocery store manager and self-employed in the grocery business. After retiring, he worked in park maintenance for the City of Muskegon and Cedar Creek Township, allowing him to enjoy quality time outdoors. He will be dearly missed by many including Wheeler, his constant companion.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Gift of Life, Michigan; this charity was important to Ron.
Ron's Celebration of Life will occur on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at the American Legion Post 397 in Holton from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.
