St. George, Utah – Alexander Joseph Aerts,77, left us behind January 21, 2025. He was born on July 7, 1947, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to William Aerts and Marion Aerts. He married Nancy Aerts on July 2, 1977.
He spent most of his life in the nursing field taking care of others more than himself. He was raised in the Clearfield, Utah area where he graduated high school. He joined the military upon graduating in 1965 where he spent 4 years active duty at Ft. Walter Read Medical Center. In 1979 he later joined the Utah Army National Guard. He deployed to Saudi Arabia in support of Operation Desert Storm. He continued his education at the University of Utah. He was a devout member of the catholic church where he was also a 4th degree in the Knights of Columbus. He raised his family in the Salt Lake City area and later moved to St. George to finish his days there. He was known for being a part of many different organizations to include the Boys Scouts of America, The American Red Cross, and The American Legion. His interests included rooting for many different sports and enjoyed cheering on his New York Yankees, Washington Redskins, and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Aerts; children: Alexander Aerts Jr. and his spouse Brenda Aerts from Rigby, Idaho, Keith Aerts of Tucson, Arizona, Kristine Kautz of Colorado Springs, Brooke Gillespie-Trout and her spouse Scott Trout from Henderson, Nevada; and grandchildren: Cheyann Aerts-Pierce, Liberty Smith, Kylee Aerts, Emily Trout, Katie Ves Huerta, Rhiannon Kautz and Dillon Kautz.
A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, January 30, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Saint George Catholic Church, 259 West 200 North, St. George, Utah 84770. A viewing will be held prior to the Mass beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the Catholic Church. Interment will be in Tonaquint Cemetery, 1777 South Dixie Drive, St. George, Utah.

We where in the same unit during Desert Storm 144th Evac Hospital. Even when things where going bad he was always a bright ray of sunshine. He was a great mentor to all around him. Later my old friend!
