Danny Perry Obituary

Danny Harold Perry, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on February 19, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. His life was one of selfless service, Christlike kindness, and quiet strength. Above all, he will be remembered for the way he loved his family with patience, loyalty, and unwavering devotion.

Danny was born October 17, 1952, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to two loving parents, Harold Jack Perry and Shirley Mae Perry. He was the second-oldest of five children, a dependable and caring brother who made it a priority to remain close to his siblings and offer help whenever it was needed.

He learned early in life the value of honest hard work and responsibility. Danny loved the quiet of early mornings. Each morning for years, rain or snow, he would get up early and ride his bicycle ten miles to work and ten miles back home. From a young age, Danny could often be found working diligently at various jobs or out on the baseball field that he loved. He graduated from Highland High School and later attended the University of Utah.

While attending college, he met the love of his life, Ada Mae Perry. On April 12, 1974, Danny and his beloved wife Ada were sealed for time and all eternity in the Ogden Temple. Although losing his temple recommend created a bit of anxious anticipation about his late arrival to his own wedding, he would later reflect on that sacred day as one of the happiest and most meaningful of his life. Their sealing was not only the beginning of a devoted marriage but a covenant that shaped their lives in faith and purpose.

Together, Danny and Ada built a home centered on the gospel of Jesus Christ, honoring the promises they made in the house of the Lord. Through life’s joys and challenges, they remained steadfast by each other’s side, drawing strength from their eternal covenants and their shared testimony. Their years together were marked by love, service, and an enduring commitment to one another that extends beyond this life.

As a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Danny had an unwavering testimony of the Savior Jesus Christ and the Plan of Salvation. He shared that testimony through his actions and example. His family knew the strength of his faith by the way he lived. His devotion to the gospel was reflected in the guidance he gave his children, each of whom served a full-time mission. He lovingly supported each of his children as they served full-time missions and felt great joy and gratitude for the blessings their service brought into their lives and his own.

It is difficult to describe the joy, comfort, and feelings of safety his presence brought to those who knew him best. Danny was a devoted family man who always put his loved ones before himself. His greatest joy came from being surrounded by family and dear friends. He loved to teach, encourage, and support those around him to follow their dreams. Through years of hard work, Danny was blessed with knowledge, talents, and practical skills that he generously used to improve the lives of his family, friends, and neighbors.

He was a remarkably creative person with an amazing ability to fix almost anything, and he took joy in teaching his family many of the skills he had learned. Danny had many hobbies that were a reflection of that creativity, such as woodworking, leatherworking, and working on classic cars, to name a few. He could take simple materials and turn them into something beautiful and meaningful. These activities brought him great satisfaction, but they meant the most to him when shared with family. He treasured the time spent working side by side with those he loved, creating not only projects but also lasting memories.

Danny took great joy in collecting things that reflected the beauty and meaning he found in life. He cherished rocks and gems that reminded him of the wonders of God’s creations. He also loved antique objects that carried history and stories from those who came before. Whether it was a handcrafted tool, a well-made keepsake, or something passed down through generations, he appreciated the skill and care that went into creating these items. His ability to build and create with his own hands gave him a deep respect for the craftsmanship of others.

Music was one of his greatest joys, especially playing and teaching the trumpet. Over the years, he taught many students, helping them discover their own abilities. He often had his students join him in parades so they could experience sharing their music with the community.

Danny gained a love for the outdoors from a young age through his time in the Boy Scouts and many hunting trips with his father. He was proud to earn the award of an Eagle Scout at the age of 17. Throughout his life, he embraced every opportunity to participate in Scouting adventures, guiding and instructing young men in the outdoor skills he loved so much.

Danny would never pass up an opportunity to take his jeep deep into the mountains. He passed on his love and respect for the Utah wilderness to his family as they spent time together hunting, fishing, and camping. He was comfortable and confident in his abilities to navigate and survive off the beaten trail in places few people visit.

Danny is survived by his eternal companion, Ada Perry; their children: Brandon Perry, Crystal Perry (Craig Rundell), and Chad Perry; his grandchildren: Taylor, Jared, and Brookelynn Rundell; and his siblings: Stanley (Barbara) Perry, Shirleen White, and Quinn Perry.

With tender hearts, we trust in God’s eternal plan as we grieve the absence of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather. Though we miss his laughter and loving presence, his strength and kindness will remain with us always. Through our faith in Jesus Christ and the blessings of the temple, we know this separation is temporary and that we will be joyfully reunited.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Jack Perry and Shirley Mae Perry; his sister, Janet Percival; and his brothers-in-law, Doug White and Virgil Percival.

Just as the Savior, Danny strived to lift the burdens of others, serving as an earthly angel and a comfort to all who knew him. Though he has passed, we find comfort in knowing that he will continue to watch over and protect those he loves. We are deeply grateful for the many prayers and thoughts that were extended to Danny. They gave him so much strength and comfort through his final trial.

A funeral service honoring Danny’s life will be held Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Salt Lake Butler West Stake, 1845 East 7200 South, Cottonwood Heights, Utah. A viewing will precede the service from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., and interment will follow at Memorial Mountain View Mortuary.
