Michael David Godwin Weiss passed away Sunday, February 15, 2026 at the age of 86.

Born on June 18, 1939, he was the first baby delivered on Father's Day at LDS Hospital. Mike, or Mickey as he was known by siblings and childhood friends, was the last of 10 children born to Karl and Therese Anna Baumgaertner Weiss. He is preceded in death by his parents along with siblings Karl Nephi Weiss (Ruth Doreen Cutler), Ruth Theresia Calvert (Dr. Wade P.), Siegfried Alma Weiss (Kathleen King), Esther Apple (Robert Donald), Hyrum Elijah Weiss (Mary Fern Reynolds), Lydia Eve Kjergard (William Edward), Mary Lucy Meier (John Arthur), Gilbert Joseph Weiss (Sharon Wood), and Daisy Ann Murphy (John). He is survived by his loving wife Janice K. Speers Weiss, daughter of Russell K. Speers and Lula Hannah Ballard Speers, son Kerry R. Weiss (Heather J. Kimball), daughter Tracie L. Weiss, and grandchildren Parker Weiss (Emily), Jessica Weiss, Sydney Reynolds (Trevor) and Jonah Weiss.

Mike graduated from South High School and also the University of Utah (go Utes!), majoring in English and Speech. He served as President of the Speech Arts Guild while attending the University of Utah.

Mike also served in the Air National Guard as a member of the 151st Air Base Squadron. He went on to work for the Foreign Study League in New York, a prominent private organizer of international summer study programs for students. He continued working in the travel industry until he operated his own travel incentive company for most of his career. He was privileged to be able to visit many places around the world.

Mike was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served as a proselyting missionary in West Germany. He served in many callings in the church throughout his life, including as a senior missionary in Danville, Illinois with his beloved wife in the Peoria Illinois / St. Louis Missouri missions. He also loved serving as a temple ordinance worker at both the Draper Utah Temple and Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple.

Mike enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, golf and taking naps, but most of all he loved his sweetheart wife Jan, son Kerry and wife Heather, daughter Tracie, and his grandchildren. He wanted to thank all of his friends for their love, support and mentoring throughout his life.

For those wishing to pay their respects, a viewing will be held Tuesday, March 3, 2026 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Larkin Mortuary (1950 E 10600 S Sandy, UT 84092).
