Dixie Lee Perry passed away at her home on February 18, 2026, at the age of 86.
Dixie was born on August 20, 1939, to Helen Novas and Craig Scott in
Pocatello, Idaho. She was the second of eight children, the oldest girl, and spent most of her younger years between Montana, Idaho, Texas, and Utah.
Dixie married Clarence Perry on June 23, 1960, and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on June 23, 1976. They ultimately settled in
Sandy, Utah, where they raised their family. She dedicated her life to her family, always providing a room for her children and grandchildren whenever it was needed.
Dixie had a great love for animals of all kinds and never turned away a stray. Over the years, she enjoyed her horses, chickens, dogs, cats, rabbits, the occasional betta fish, and many birds. She loved the outdoors. Weekends and summers were spent camping, boating, and fishing at Deer Creek, and taking the grandkids for endless rides on the four-wheeler. She loved road-tripping to see family in California and Idaho, attending plays at the Jackson Hole Playhouse and performances by the Bar J Wranglers-especially when she once spotted her favorite country artist, Alan Jackson, in the audience and got his autograph.
She enjoyed taking drives in the mountains to admire the "quakies," the fall colors, and to look for deer. Always on the go, she never turned down an opportunity for an adventure or a good game of Pinochle. Though she disliked having her picture taken, she always kept her camera close at hand to capture her family and the memories of every life event she could attend.
Dixie was fiercely stubborn and independent. Even though Grandpa could have done it, she insisted on changing her own car oil, maintaining the bright turquoise trim on her house, and usually figured out how to fix anything that needed fixing.
Dixie was always happy, and many family gatherings ended in tears brought on by laughter. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and she always went over the top. Breakfast was tradition, and the front room was filled with both presents and family all day long.
Dixie will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered. Her legacy will continue on.
She is survived by her brother, Fred Scott; sisters, Ralfae (Jim) Zimmer and Tammi (Glen) Smith; children, Penni (Van) Warr, Shane Perry, and Marty Perry; stepchildren, Terry (Lynn) Palmer, Margo (Al) Moeller, and Mike (Joelle) Perry; along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence; and grandsons, Dirk Perry and Casey Don (C.D.) Rushton.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, February 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. for family and friends at Larkin Sunset Gardens in Sandy. The service may be viewed at larkinmortuary.com.
