Ragnar Bjorge Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 21, 2026.
Ragnar Andreas Bjørge (N7LCR)

1947 - 2026

Ragnar Andreas Bjørge (N7LCR) died at the age of 78, holding his daughter's hand in Feb 2026. He was born the 10th of March 1947 in Bergen, Norway to Randi Augusta Olsen Bjørge and Kjell A. Bjørge. The family emigrated to the US and settled in Sugar House where Ragnar grew up and attended Highland High School.

Ragnar had many interests and was known for his vast knowledge, entertaining (often grandiose) stories, and his long career baking. He could carry on a conversation about almost anything! He was a long time ham radio operator (N7LCR) and loved telling of his many adventures being a communicator for races and events, and his ham radio club friends. He loved astronomy and learning more about the universe, stars, and just about any topic within science. At the same time, he loved baking and art and had a full career as a professional chef/pastry chef making many tasty treats and beautiful wedding cakes. He loved jazz, and playing his upright bass and could play along with just about any music. He fully instilled deep curiosity and a passion for science and nature in both his kids. He was able to live a lifelong dream of witnessing a total solar eclipse with his daughter and daughter-in-law in 2017.

Ragnar is preceded in death by his son Matthew, wife Elin, little brother Randal (Wendy), as well as his parents. He is missed by his daughter Natalie (Kate), grandkids Alexander and Rin, siblings Sylvia (Rob) and Kjell (Therese), other family members, and many friends. He will be missed. He would likely tell you to "take care," use his favorite chef smile C=;-)> and remind you to "look up" at the planetary parade Feb 28 or the lunar eclipse on March 3, or really at any time.

Services and celebrations (including cookies and stories, of course) will be held Saturday, March 7th, 2026 at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church at 11:00 am. 175 S 700 E, Salt Lake City, UT 84102.
