Ronald Beamer Obituary

Ronald Beamer

April 17, 1940 - November 2, 2024

Ronald Charles Beamer, 84, of Mt. Airy, North Carolina, lovingly known as "Ron," "Papa," "Boss Man," or "Young Man", passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 2, 2024.

Ronald was born to Charlie and Arlie Beamer on April 17, 1940. He met the love of his life, Nancy Collins, at Franklin High School. Ronald and Nancy were married in 1958 and had three children, Jerry, Gary and Julie. Ronald began his career at Ararat Rock and went on to own Zip Foods in Mt. Airy, where he quickly became a pillar of the community. He could often be found behind the register chatting with friends and strangers alike, and spoiling his grandchildren with paper sacks they filled with candy at each visit.

Ronald was an avid sports enthusiast who enjoyed bowling, NASCAR races, traveling the world and cheering on the Carolina Tar Heels. He loved spending time with his friends, who encompassed all aspects of his life - especially his Thursday dinner group. Ronald and Nancy were devoted members of Highland Park Baptist Church in Mt. Airy.

Most people will tell you there was no better man than Ronald. His family will remember his stories, one-liners, contagious smile, generosity, and family travel adventures to the Carolina beaches, Caribbean, Europe, Colorado, Grand Canyon and beyond.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, David Collins, He is survived by his wife, Nancy Beamer, three children, Jerry Beamer (Jean) of Winston-Salem, Gary Beamer of Mt. Airy, and Julie Berrier (Roger) of Sherrills Ford, and four grandchildren, Amelia, Garland (Stephanie), Colin (Kristin) and Anna, who will never forget the love he brought to their lives. Ronald had a special place in his heart for his and Nancy's beloved dog, Toby.

The Beamer family extends gratitude to the many caregivers and angels who supported Ronald throughout his life and especially in the past two years - caregiver Tina Combs, nurse Kasey Meadows, Dr. Minton, Dr. Crossley, Dr. Harbaugh, the staff of the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home, and so many others.

In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates donations to Highland Park Baptist Church or the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home of Dobson, NC.

One of the main things we need to know about a man, shows in the family he leaves behind. The Beamer family is a wonderful testament to the loving, kind and giving man that Ronald Beamer was. Sending love and prayers for peace to family and friends.
