Ronald Beier Obituary

Ronald "Ron" Beier, Sr.
Born: August 19, 1939 in Bronx, NY
Died: September 18, 2025 in Crystal Lake, IL
Ronald "Ron" Beier Sr., 86, of Crystal Lake, Illinois, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025.
Born in the Bronx, New York, August 19, 1939, Ron grew up in Daytona Beach, Florida, where he developed his lifelong love of cars and travel. He joined the air force and was stationed in Iceland as chaplain's assistant. He returned to Daytona and worked for his mother at her travel agency, the first woman owned travel agency (Atlas Travel) in the state of Florida. He met his late wife, Judith McNeil Beier while attending Daytona Beach Community College. Shortly after their marriage in 1961 he was employed in the air cargo business for multiple airlines for several years which took him to many destinations.
In 1972 Ron followed in his mother's footsteps by founding Travel First in Crystal Lake, one of Northern Illinois' premiere travel agencies. He continued to travel the world with his wife and family. Ron and Judy loved cruising and met many friends around the world. In the early 80's he realized there was a need for qualified travel agents. In 1982, First Institute was born. It was one of the first travel industry schools in Illinois. This allowed him to hire trained agents and fill positions with employers such as United Airlines, Apple Vacations, and many others. He was also an active member of Skål Club of Chicago.
In the late 1980's his entrepreneurial spirit led him to expand his offerings which included IT and healthcare. Ron took great pride in building opportunities for others and dreamed of leaving a lasting legacy for his children and grandchildren.
Ron joined Crystal Lake Country Club in 1969 and served as its president from 1995 - 1997 where he cherished friendships, community, golf and playing bridge. He never shied away from a good time. He continued his hobbies at his residence and club in Florida. Ron was preceded in death by his mother, Anna Beier; beloved wife, Judith; and his son Ronald. Jr.
Ron is survived by his sons Eric (Dena) Beier; Kurt (Missy) Beier; his cherished grandchildren Keegan, Quinn, and Evelyn Judith and extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
Ron's life will be remembered for his love of family, passion for travel, and commitment to building a future for others.
Forgoing a formal visitation, a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 27, at 3 p.m. at the Crystal Lake Country Club, 721 Country Club Road, Crystal Lake, IL 60014.
