Ronald Boogie Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Samuel J. Jones Funeral Home on Feb. 24, 2026.
Ronald Wesley Coleman, 78, of Pittsburgh, peacefully entered eternal rest on February 22, 2026. He was born on November 24, 1947, in New York City to the late John and Geraldine Coleman. Ronald was a proud graduate of Pittsburgh Public Schools and dedicated 27 years of service to Children's Hospital. Despite visual limitations, Ronald lived life with determination, grace, and an unwavering work ethic. He walked to his job daily, rarely missing a day, and was deeply respected and loved by coworkers and friends alike. Affectionately known as Captain Boogie, Ronald had a lifelong passion for music. As a disc jockey, he brought joy to countless gatherings, including NAACP events, Community Day in Homewood, church picnics, holiday celebrations, and private occasions. He also shared his love of music in a personal way by creating custom CDs for family and friends - a gesture that reflected his thoughtful and generous spirit.

Above all, Ronald cherished his family and friendships. He is survived by his brother, Elliott Coleman and sister-in-law Dorothy Coleman; cousins Geraldine Plummer, Debra Walker-Hill, and Jerome Walker; second cousins Joe Horton and Joy Martin; Geraldine Plummer's children, Allison, Dawn, and Adam; along with many extended relatives and dear friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts. He is also lovingly remembered by his former wife and dear companion, Linda, who recently reconnected with Ronald and brought comfort and companionship during his later days. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Laraine.

A memorial service and interment will be held on March 2, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. at Allegheny Mausoleum Chapel.

Ronald will be remembered for his resilience, kindness, love of music, and the quiet strength with which he lived his life. His memory will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew him.
