Ronald Bourgard Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 20, 2019.
Ronald Paul Bourgard passed away peacefully on Monday, February 18, 2019 at the Miami Jewish- Seasons Hospice in Miami, Florida.

He was born in Amityville, New York, on March 26, 1940 to Paul and Denise (Galichet) Bourgard.

Ronald is survived by his son Todd Ronald (Barbara) Bourgard; brother Dr. Lawrence D. (Kathy) Bourgard; grandson Corey Adam Bourgard; great granddaughter Kali Jayne Bourgard, and his loving soul mate Kristen Tyler.

After growing up on Long Island and enjoying a notable high school basketball and baseball career, Ron took to the warm weather and beautiful beaches of Florida. His adult years were split between Fort Lauderdale and Miami, where he excelled in various sales positions. Ron was quite instrumental in effectuating the sales and application of hurricane shutters after the devastation caused by Hurricane Wilma. Ron's friendly, charming demeanor and radiant smile brought joy and laughter wherever he went. His striking height and larger than life personality tagged him the nickname "Big Ron," as he was so affectionately called by all. He spent his free time enjoying the sand and the sun, traveling with Kristen and enjoyed watching sports and discussing politics.

A celebration of his life will be announced. At this time, the family is privately honoring Ron.

It's an understatement to say that Ron was one of the best friends I've ever had... Ron, along with Kristen (Flower): family. Ron always looked out for me, wiped away my tears and shared some of my heartiest laughs with me. SO many treasured memories that I'll hold in my heart... Along with his memory. I miss him everyday and hear him say: "Love you baby - talk to me!"

May the light in our souls which shined so brightly on earth together, shine once more when the Lord deems it so.

I met Ron in Costa Rica. He was such a nice, friendly guy. I remember walking out of the hyperbaric chamber looking ever so lovely in my prairie outfit with no makeup on and him telling me how pretty I was. I only knew him for a few days but he was always smiling and happy!

Knowing Ron for the many years that I did, was a great pleasure. We were Papa and Baby Smurf, as he was also with other of us lady friends in South Florida. He cared for his friends, was a friendly fixture in our community. He is dearly missed and irreplaceable. Thank you for your friendship!

Hardly seems real that Ron has passed. Larry and I were so grateful to be able to say goodbye via FaceTime the evening before. We are reminded of the poem in the booklet that Hospice gave you Gone From My Sight. As the ship sails from one shore to the distant shore, there are loved ones waving goodbye and others eagerly awaiting his arrival. God bless Ron's soul and give comfort to all those who loved him. Love, Larry and Kathy

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.
