It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Ronald Clarence Bruno, Sr., 82, of Willsboro, New York on July 18th, 2025. His family never left his side until the very end. Ron had fought a courageous battle to stay here, and his final days were spent with the most amazing care from the Palliative Care staff at CVPH.
Ronald was born April 7th, 1943, in the Elizabethtown, New York Hospital to Joseph A. Bruno, Jr. and Blanche E. (Sweatt) Bruno. Ron's love of Willsboro was constant from very early childhood to his very last days. Ron did many things for his community throughout his life, but his very favorite title was that of Town Historian. He was an active member of the Willsboro Historical Society, in this role, he took special pride in preserving local heritage in a kiosk that was constructed with the help of Graphic Artist Robert Powell and local Contractor Sam Blanchard. Ron spent countless hours at the museum preparing displays and providing tours of the many displays. He spent much of his time doing research of the towns history and for anyone asking for help with family genealogy. This gave him great pleasure to help people discover their own deep connections to Willsboro.
Ron left Willsboro to pursue a degree as a Pharmacist in Albany but after being away for one year he moved back to Willsboro to marry the love of his life Susan E. Frenier. He moved to Schenectady to work For General Electric but soon found he could come back to his hometown to work for NYSEG. Ron was employed for 37 years as a lineman for NYSEG, where his dedication and work ethic earned him the respect of his colleagues and friends alike. His career reflected his steadfast commitment to service and reliability, qualities that defined every aspect of his life.
Ron's hands were rarely still. A gifted woodworker, he could turn raw timber into works of art. His creations were not only beautiful but a deeply personal expression of his love toward the person that received them.
Ron did everything in his power to perfect anything he set his mind too. He was an amazing athlete with golf being one of his favorite activities. He had won many league championships and stayed competitive with local guys he grew up with.
Ron was also an avid hunter. He loved hunting through the years with family, friends and his two sons. He believed in hunting the way it had been done long ago. He tracked and followed one deer for years before finally hitting the mark and dragging that deer down from the mountains in Keene, N.Y. The deer was a 12-point Buck weighing over 200 lbs.!
Ron is survived by his loving wife, Susan E. (Frenier) Bruno; his children, Ronald C. Bruno Jr. wife (Yvonne), Rebecca L. Morris husband (John), and Robert A. Bruno wife (Bonnie); eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Janice Sylvester husband (Anthony), Sharon Bruno, and Cathy Redford husband (Rick); and his Aunt Dorothy (Sweatt) Jaques; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A man of quiet strength and enduring kindness, Ron has touched many lives through both his actions and his example. None more than his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren whom all held a special place in his heart. May Ron's memory bring comfort to those who knew him and inspiration to all who value hard work, heritage and heart.
He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph A. Bruno, Jr. and Blanche (Sweatt) Bruno; Uncle Clarence Bruno, Uncle Bud Sweatt, and Uncle Johnny Sweatt; and Aunt, Bernice (Sweatt) Mero.
