Ronald Bukowski Obituary

Ronald Marvin Bukowski

May 23, 1936 - Jun 16, 2025

Ron Bukowski passed in the comfort of his family last Monday evening. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Faye; sons: Marc (Nancy), Ron (Brenda), Dan (Angie), and daughter Shelly (Guy) Griner. Grandchildren: Wes (Katie), Ty (Laurajean), Logan, Elise, Kane, Mathew, and Neil (Brittany). Great Grandchildren: Ella, Annabelle, Grace, Charlotte, Thea, Alexis, Ava, Edik, and Bria. Siblings: Walter (Joan), John (Late Beverly), Jim (Kathy), Dorothy (Chris) Cole, June, Linda (Tom) Reynolds.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Mary; sister, Mary Catherine (Nick) Redencic; brothers, Tom (Carol), and Gene (Jackie).

Ron spent most of his life in Hammond Indiana graduating from Hammond Tech High School. He served in the United States Army and retired from the Continental Baking Company.

A founding member of the Region Umpires Association…he and several others provided a much-needed support for Little League Baseball in the Calumet Region.

Always taking the opposite point of view just to create an argument, Ron could engage in a level of hypocrisy and indifference that could make the most patient person angry. With little to no internal filter, he could blurt out raw truths that could rival any 4-year old and bring a social gathering to a screeching halt. And, by no means, park your car over the line because you'll get three door slams as a warning leaving the kids to make things right.

Being an intellectual genius…the man literally created his own language. Just a few examples of these beautifully spoken words are:

"Boston Chicken" for Boston Market - "Gonzaga" for video game Galaga - "Charlie Cheese" for Chuckie Cheese - "Yellow Orange" for Agent Orange - "Plaza TV" for plasma tv - "Faloozies" for restaurant Fazoli's, Brums for restaurant Braums, and some famous quotes; "Let's blow this night club" and "Like two kids in a candy jar." Incredible brilliance, taking the English language to another level.

Ron was famous for the Snack Corner in his kitchen. Loaded with cakes, donuts, and candy it was open season for his kids, grandkids, neighborhood kids, and Ron alike. He would say; "Something has gotta kill you," and being the foreteller of the future….IT DID.

We will dearly miss his Archie Bunker ways, will love him in our hearts forever, and have his wisdom with us always. After all, it was Dad who would tell us growing up over and over again; "I give you a roof over your heads, clothes on your backs, food on the table, and I pay the bills!"

YES, YOU DID POPS……………THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre in Crown Point, IN.
